Straws, swabs and other plastics will be banned from 2020

Products such as disposable plastic dishes or cutlery, plastic cups, straws, swabs or spoons for coffee.
These are some examples of products that, from July 2020, the Government intends to see definitely eradicated from the supermarket shelves.

In this way, the Executive anticipates the goals set by Brussels and the directive, which foresees by 2021 the end of the commercialization of these products.

João Pedro Matos Fernandes, Minister of the Environment, said the idea is also to end disposable dishes in restaurants and other public places.

For the bottles the introduction of the returnable tare is foreseen.
That means that the return of the bottles will be compensated in a way that could pass through the delivery of values in shopping vouchers.

These measures relate to the conclusions of the working group set up by the Government to analyze plastics issues.
