Getting the economy to circulate in the cities of the future

Companies, State, third sector and citizens. The circular economy offers a series of strategies, whose application by the different economic actors, can result in the reduction of environmental impacts, but also in the increase of efficiency in the management of the available resources.

Cities consume over 70% of the planet's resources, which represents more than half of its population and representing 80% of world GDP. Urban areas are then those that present the greatest challenges and benefits in implementing a model of reuse and recycling of resources.

Cities should seek to optimize the efficiency of their resources and make the use of their digital and technological assets increasingly circular. In this context, the smart and circular city has five steps to take:
• Map the city's digital assets and evaluate the cost of its implementation and operation.
• Define a policy for the use of responsible and efficient information technology resources.
• Betting on the creation of platforms capable of integrating data from the different systems of the city.
• Provide data to citizens, which will foster innovation ecosystems.
• Create data-based decision-making programs.
