Recycling grew 11% in Portugal in the first half of the year
Portugal had an 11% increase in recycling in the first half of this year, compared with data from the same period of 2018.
Between January and June this year around 175,000 tons of packaging were collected, which is equivalent to the weight of 450 commercial aircraft, with a "significant increase" in all materials collected.
According to Sociedade Ponto Verde, paper and board increased by 16% in tons collected, followed by aluminum which grew by 13% and glass which registered 10% more tons than in the first half of the last year.
Plastic grew by 5% in recycled tons, which, according to Sociedade Ponto Verde, is due to the decrease in its use.
