Tourists collected two tons of garbage on Culatra island

Dozens of families, on vacation, participated in garbage collection on the beach.

Two tons of garbage were collected last week in Ria Formosa. The initiative, organized by users of boats that usually dock on Culatra Island, had the participation of 70 people.

The garbage collected, in Culatra, was mostly plastics and derivatives, found on the banks and lake of Ria Formosa Natural Park.

The Maritime Authority supported the event through a boat from the Olhão Lifeguard Station and the Maritime Police (PM), as well as a PM water jet. There was also the support of a private cargo ship, which transported the island's garbage to land.
