Quercus presents application to improve recycling

Finding the right destination for 50 types of waste is the goal of the application that indicates the closest places to leave home appliances or other specific waste.
Developed by the environmental association Quercus, the tool can be easily consulted, simplifying the waste separation task.

Wasteapp, the tool, developed in partnership with Vodafone Foundation, aims to reflect Quercus's effort to improve recycling levels by fighting the "supposed disinterest" of the Portuguese, which "is nothing more than ignorance," says Cármen Lima, Quercus waste coordinator.

You just have to search for what you want to throw away and find the nearest place of delivery, also allowing you to clarify doubts about what you can and can not put in the recycling bins.

Quercus recalls that every Portuguese produces an average of 1.32 kg of waste each day, contributing to an annual production of 4.75 million tons of urban waste for which we have to give a destination. Only 16.5% of the total waste produced in Portugal is sent to the recycling bins.
